Algiers Police Seize 3,100 Narcotic Pills in Bab El Oued

The Algiers Provincial Security, represented by the judicial police division of Bab El Oued administrative district, arrested a suspect last week for possession and trafficking of hard drugs, seizing 3,100 narcotic pills, including “Sibutrex” and “Ecstasy.” The operation was carried out under the supervision of the competent local prosecutor.
This operation followed an intelligence tip about suspicious activity involving a known criminal in one of Bab El Oued’s neighborhoods in the capital. Investigations led to the suspect’s arrest, with authorities seizing a large quantity of narcotic pills and a sum of 3.9 million dinars, suspected to be proceeds from illegal drug trafficking.
The suspect was referred to the local prosecutor on charges related to the illegal import, storage, and distribution of hard drugs as part of an internationally organized crime group. Additionally, charges of money laundering within the framework of organized crime have been filed.
